So here I am in TOA doing some ecto trade. And I exhausted my funds to 111k and some odd amount in storage. I have 25 ectos, decent trading night. Guy says "BUying ecto at 7k each" I tell him I have 25. And the trading begins.

I trade him 15 for 92k, then deposit
Then I trade him 10 for 70k
and deposit.

I look at the amount of gold I then have in storage .... a 111k and some odd amount?!?!? So somewhere along the lines I managed to lose 162 k in roughly 20 seconds without ever buying a thing. Only selling.

I checked the trade messages and I did receive and deposit the gold. So I'm at more than a loss here and very upset.

Any Ideas?

I tired logging out and back in. To no avail.

11k + 92k + 7k = 110k (~111k)

Are you sure it was 70k and not 7k?

edit: your (possible) loss is 62k, not 162k.

I tired logging out and back in. To no avail.

Did you take screenshots of all the trading sessions showing the +gold amount. If so, send them to A-net and see if they can fix the problem.

Very good point!! I have been scammed before but not by guild Wars, but by the player I tarded with. He put the amount in and accpeted and I accepted and realised after that he missed a "0" off!! Managed to whisper a few F*** yous to the culprit before he logged off never to be seen again!!

Is it really scamming? I mean maybe he forgot the 0, didn't realize it, and had to sign off right after the trade.

I am not siding with people that do this, but how can you draw the line between scamming and human error? The person who you are trading with and you both see the items and the amount.

In the case this topic is about, I would say that if all the money was there and correct in the text is says when you completed the trade, either you thought you had money you didn't have, you messed up in a trade earlier, or you got hacked.

Everyone is trying to look at this like I was scammed, I was not.
I watched it say the trade amounts and platinum amounts.
I watched 92k hit my inventory, then I didnt pay attention when it hit my storage.
I then watched 70k hit my inventory and was like omg wtf when I went to storage.

There was no human error

No. I've been playing this game quite some time and know the difference
between 70 gold and 70 platinum. Ive already told u the time was around
10 PM central last night. I know i started the evening trading with 200

yesterday, and know the difference between platinum and gold pieces. I

Thank you for contacting Guild Wars Support. Prior to placing the 92k in your storage vault, you say you already had some amount of money in the vault. Would it have been enough that when added to 92k, would have brought your total up to the ~111.5k that you are seeing now? Since you didn't check the amount when you deposited the 70k, I'm afraid it might be possible that you might have been tricked by the last person you traded with, having been given 70 gold pieces instead of 70k. When depositing this into the storage and expecting a large jump in the total gold and then not seeing it, it would be easy to think money went missing.

If you happen to remember the name of that person and the date and approximate time (and time zone) that you traded with them, we will be happy to look into the situation, and if necessary, take appropriate action against the potentially offending player.

Around 10 PM (central) Feb 02, 2006, I was doing my normal routine of buy ing and selling ecto.

After my first sale of 15 ecto at 92k I deposited the funds into my storage and then went to sell the remaining 10 ecto I had left.

I deposited the funds, then went to the guy, traded my remaining 10 ecto for 70k and went to deposit it. Not looking I deposited this amount. For a total of 162k.
I then looked at the amount of gold in my storage and was flabergasted to see 111,571 (my gold I had in storage before i started trading) So, I'm missing 162k in gold (that I know of) I was in Temple of Ages District one.

I also tried logging back in and out.

yeah bio you got scammed.. that's one of the oldest tricks- I used to sell alot of ecto and came across this scam so many times it's sad.. they put in 70gold instead of 70 plat like that

And then there's the population like myself; wondering what it is like to even see 50 Plat at any one single point of time. Being a computer geek myself, I understand all too well that a vast majority of "errors" are human in nature. The program can only do what it is told. If it works right once, it will work right again and again and again.

Bugs and exceptions happen, due mostly to extreme cases or very specific circumstance. I can't say, I wasn't there, but it doesn't sound like anything abnormal about these circumstances. Therefore without screens that say it was 'x' plat and not 'x' gold, it's very hard to conclude that you saw what you say you saw.

Heck, considering some people's abilities with photoshop - even graphical evidence can be questioned.

So what is it like to have a six figure balance just sitting around collecting dust anyway?

I was buying cloth once from the trader... my gold count dropped and oddly enough so was my cloth count like I was selling cloth to him. It was really weird and only happened once.

I bet you got scammed though unless the messages clearly stated "Successful trade of ecto for 70plat" or something along those lines.

Twas not scammed.
After all the gold was gone I went back and checked everything.
I dont remmber his name traded you 92 Platinum
Idont remmeber his name traded you 70 platinum

I however did not get a screenie, I did the normal windows stupid thing to do and logged out to log back and see if that fixed it.
